Evan's Story: Why We Wear RED

There are moments in life that change everything in an instant.
For the Davis family, that moment was Evan’s accident on March 18, 2025.
What began as a normal day quickly turned into a fight for his life. In those first critical hours, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta became everything, our lifeline, our hope, and ultimately, the reason Evan is here with us today.
The care started with lifesaving measures. Teams of experts moved with precision, urgency, and compassion to stabilize Evan. In those moments, every second mattered, and they never missed one.
But what we quickly learned is that at Children’s, care doesn’t stop once a life is saved.
That’s where Evan’s real journey began.
More Than Saving a Life
Evan’s recovery has been a journey, one that continues more than a year after his accident.
From the PICU to CIRU (inpatient rehabilitation), and through Day Rehab, which he graduated from last summer, Evan’s care has been constant, evolving, and deeply personalized. Today, he continues his journey with follow-up care in physiatry, orthopedics, and orthotics. This summer, he will also participate in a two-week robotics intensive, continuing to build strength, mobility, and independence. Every step of the way, the team has monitored, adjusted, and pushed forward, never settling and always striving for continued progress.
What could have been the end of his story became the beginning of a new one because of the level of care available right here in Atlanta.
We are incredibly fortunate. Not every community has access to a hospital system like this, one that doesn’t just save children, but commits to helping them live full, meaningful lives afterward.

Family Forever!
One of the most extraordinary things about Children’s is not just the medicine. It’s the people.
From the doctors and nurses to therapists and support staff, they don’t just treat patients. They embrace families. They celebrate every milestone, no matter how small. They remember names, stories, and victories.
They check in. They cheer loudly. They care deeply.
And what we’ve come to realize is this:
No child ever truly leaves their hearts.
We’ve experienced reunions that feel like family gatherings, celebrations of progress that bring tears of joy, and moments where you realize these relationships don’t end when you leave the hospital, they last forever.
Why This Matters
Evan is here today because of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
He is healing, growing stronger, and continuing to defy expectations because of the resources, technology, and, most importantly, the people who have walked this journey with us.
RED is Evan’s favorite color. But it has come to mean so much more to our family.
RED represents strength in the hardest moments, resilience in the face of uncertainty, and the courage it takes to keep going—no matter what.
The RED Masquerade Gala is about more than an evening.
It’s about ensuring that every child who walks through those doors receives the same chance Evan did.
A chance to live.
A chance to heal.
A chance to thrive.

Our Why
Robyn Davis, CMP, CITP, owner of RCD Events Worldwide, created this event in honor of her son, Evan.
We wear RED for Evan.
We wear RED for the strength he shows every single day.
We wear RED for the teams who never gave up.
We wear RED for every child still fighting and for every family who needs hope.
Because behind every saved life…
is a story that continues.
